Nearly 40 acres of pristine forest and wetland offers the visitor the experience of deep woods quiet and beauty not far from town. Providing significant wildlife and water protection, the area serves as a boggy filter for the Lake Brook watershed. The 1.5 mile trail weaves through forest, extensive fern beds, and bog areas.

Parking area for The Secret Garden Preserve is located to the right of the trail ahead at the back of Evergreen Cemetery, 1 Port Road, Kennebunk. Please respect the Evergreen Cemetery rules and observe all outdoor safety guidelines. 

Please note: The Evergreen Cemetery closes the entrance gates and parking areas starting December, and opens them again in spring. The public is still welcome during the winter via foot traffic.

Through this partnership, Evergreen Cemetery and KLT are opening access to a unique space that blends cultural heritage with natural conservation. Thanks to the support of our members, donors, and awesome volunteers, we’ve cleared debris and downed trees, improved water crossings, added new directional trail blazes, and created a new trail map. As the trail continues to be restored after years of closure, we encourage visitors to travel with care while we upgrade the parking area, rebuild bridges, and update mapping and signage.
