Why Accessible Trails Matter

Traditional trails are often narrow, uneven, and steep, limiting access for people with mobility challenges, families with strollers, etc. Improved access trails help bridge this gap, providing safe, comfortable ways for more community members to enjoy the outdoors.

This project is more than a trail. It represents a commitment that the outdoors belongs to everyone. It demonstrates that conservation isn’t only about protecting land, it’s about creating opportunities for people to connect with nature. Every step taken along the Alewive Woods Preserve Access Trail is a reminder that when we invest in conservation, we also invest in people. Our community made this possible. Thanks to everyone!
