The Alewive Access Trail is opening!

After a year of planning, fundraising, and construction, Kennebunk Land Trust is thrilled to announce the opening of the Access Trail at Alewive Woods Preserve! Join us June 27 – 29th for celebrations as we welcome the community to this new accessible outdoor destination!

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy guided nature walks, family-friendly activities, refreshments, and opportunities to explore the trail and learn more about the preserve. We will also be having an official ribbon-cutting event with the Chamber of Commerce!

Whether you have supported this project from the beginning or are visiting for the first time, we invite you to celebrate this exciting milestone with us. This 1.1 mile trail is designed with accessibility in mind to be welcoming to individuals using wheelchairs or strollers, those with limited mobility, and anyone looking for a relaxed, low-impact walk. The trail features a smooth, accessible surface, bridges, benches, picnic tables, interpretive nature signs, and wayfinding markers.

Opening Celebration Weekend

Saturday, June 27th:
– 10 a.m. – 12 p.m: Welcome snacks with KLT Board
– 10 am – 2 p.m.: Nature kids activities

Note on parking: Parking is available at the Alewive Woods Preserve trail head off of Cole Road in Kennebunk. If the lot is full, parking is allowed along the shoulder of Cole Road, out of the roadway.

This project represents a major step forward in making the outdoors more welcoming and inclusive. The Alewive Access Trail was made possible through the generosity of a wide variety of donors, volunteers, community supporters who believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the benefits of nature.
