KLT's newest acquisition is - Tributary Preserve! It is aptly named as the location encompasses a wetland tributary from Ward Brook, which connects to the Kennebunk River. Conservation of this land will protect habitat for a variety of flora and fauna.
The conserved parcel of 50+ acres, and located at the end of the Drala Drive neighborhood off Alfred Road, and was generously donated by Chris and Robin Barstow. This partnership is a great example of how conservation and development can coexist.
dedicated volunteers hiked through the woods to design trail routes. Students, neighbors, and businesses joined together to haul lumber, cut materials, construct bridges, rake paths, and dig signposts—building the preserve piece by piece. Today, this collective effort has created two miles of woodland and wetland trails, now open to the public within 50-acres of protected forest habitat.
Tributary Preserve stands as a shining example of community collaboration. Our network of volunteers and community supporters made the creation of trails possible!
