The Secret Garden
Nearly 40 acres of pristine forest and wetland offers the visitor the experience of deep woods quiet and beauty not far from town. Providing significant wildlife and water protection, the area serves as a boggy filter for the Lake Brook watershed. The 1.5 mile trail weaves through forest, extensive fern beds, and bog areas.
Directions: From the intersection of Route 1 (Main Street) and Summer Street (Route 35) in Kennebunk, drive east on Summer Street for 2.0 miles. Evergreen Cemetery is on the right. Enter the cemetery via the central main gate, drive to the rear of the cemetery and park on the grass near an old woods road. The Secret Garden trail begins about 100 yards from the back edge of the center of the cemetery.
Please be respectful if services are underway at the cemetery. No access to entry by car in winter.
